Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called for ties between Sabah and the United States (US) to be further bolstered through partnerships rooted in mutual respect and shared interests.
His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun at the Freedom 250 reception marking the US 250th independence anniversary here on Thursday night.
Hajiji said Sabah's engagement with the US sits within the wider Malaysia-US framework, opening opportunities across trade, education, environmental conservation, tourism, innovation, and maritime security.
Highlighting sectors from renewable energy and agriculture to the blue economy, he invited genuine investors to pursue ventures that generate jobs, transfer technical expertise, and deliver long-term commercial value.
Noting historical links dating back to 1865, Hajiji affirmed the State Government's commitment to enhancing connectivity, facilitating investments, and fostering a conducive business climate for mutual prosperity.
The event was attended by US Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Cate Dillon and US Embassy in Malaysia Chargé d’Affaires David H Gamble Jr.
