Sabah FC aim for a positive result away to Penang FC in the first leg of the MFL Challenge Cup final this Saturday
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah FC are targeting a positive first-leg result away to Penang FC in the MFL Challenge Cup final this Saturday.
Head coach Juan Torrest Garrido said his squad is in prime physical condition after intensive training. Their preparations have focused heavily on technical and tactical aspects of the game.
“We expect to have better control of the game (despite it being an away fixture),” Garrido said in a statement. He added that the result in Penang would not be decisive as it is only the first leg.
Garrido anticipates a highly motivated Penang side playing on their home ground at the City Stadium in George Town.
Meanwhile, team manager Mohd Arziz Afizy Rumsani called for strong support from Sabahans living in the peninsula. He believes their presence will be crucial for boosting player morale during the away fixture.
The team’s target is to return home with a comfortable advantage ahead of the decisive second leg. The return match is scheduled for April 19 at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu.
