Kota Kinabalu: Sabah will host the National Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNK), which is expected to take place in August.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, said the last time Sabah hosted HPPNK was 30 years ago, in 1995.
Advertisement“This is an exciting development for Sabah this year, as the state has been selected to host HPPNK, which will be held in Kota Kinabalu this August.
“This marks the first time in 30 years that Sabah has been chosen as the host. The last time we hosted this event was in 1995, making this a historic and significant moment.

It will also help our agricultural sector grow and further boost the food, fisheries and agro-food industries in Sabah,” he said after delivering his New Year’s 2025 mandate speech with agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) at the Federal Administrative Complex, here, on Friday.
Arthur said the HPPNK 2025 is expected to attract visitors from across the country and the region, stimulating the local economy and promoting Sabah as an agro-tourism hub.
Advertisement“This is a golden opportunity for us to elevate Sabah’s agro-food sector to a higher level,” he said.
Earlier, Arthur expressed pride in the achievements of the agencies under his Ministry last year.
Advertisement“This includes the construction and upgrading of over 40 tamu (farmers’ markets) across Sabah, the development of 10 APCCs (Agro-Based Processing and Collection Centers) statewide, and the successful introduction of Smart SBB in IADA, Kota Belud, among other initiatives,” he said.
