Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government will maintain its optional use of English in its official correspondence until further discussion by the Cabinet following the Prime Minister's call for Malay-only correspondence with the Federal Government, said a state official.

Sabah Deputy State Secretary (Development) Datuk Dr. Ahemad Sade said the meeting will be probably held closer to the next State Assembly sitting in November.

“For the time being we go about as usual. The Federal announcement is not implemented yet,” he told the media.

Sarawak State Secretary Dato' Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki has said the state will “not follow the reminder” saying “that it does not apply in Sarawak”.
