Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, on Thursday, has criticised Sabah Umno for failing to uphold its promises before the 2020 state election, calling its leader, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, untrustworthy.
Jeffrey said that despite an initial agreement to contest only 27 seats, Sabah Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) fielded candidates in 41 constituencies, breaking their pre-election pledge.
Sabah Umno contested 32 seats, while its allies, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) and MCA, contested five and four seats, respectively.
Jeffrey, who also leads Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star), expressed confidence that opposition parties will face defeat in the upcoming 17th Sabah state election, which must be held by Dec 6.
He said the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-Pakatan Harapan Plus (GRS-PH Plus) coalition, led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, remains focused on maintaining stability and driving economic development in the state.
