KOTA KINABALU: The fate of the five Sabah Umno Assemblymen who turned against the party in support of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is to be settled amicably, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also Umno President, here, Monday.

Ahmad Zahid said Sabah Umno is in an indefinite cooling-off period following the recent move to unseat Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

"The solution (in repairing the relationship with GRS) needs mutual agreement from all parties involved.

"I'm sure that my presence here in Sabah is an indication to clear any air of confusion. Umno does not take lightly the political situation.

"We must address our differences to find common ground," he said adding that he will be meeting with Hajiji.

Ahmad Zahid who is also Barisan Nasional Chairman admitted the failed coup has affected the Unity Government at the federal level.
