KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno is considering three to four male candidates for the Lamag state and the Kinabatangan parliamentary seats, its chief Datuk Jafry Ariffin said.

No final decision has been made and discussions are ongoing at party and coalition levels.

Speaking after an Umno Sabah leadership meeting, Jafry said the party has identified potential candidates, including new faces, based on winnability and grassroots feedback.

He added that Barisan Nasional intends to defend both seats to ensure continuity of development and services.

Jafry said Umno Sabah, now part of the state unity government, remains committed to political stability, inclusive development and responsible governance.

He said consultations with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and federal party leadership are ongoing, with candidate announcements expected closer to the election period.

Earlier Hajiji said that GRS is unlikely to contest said seats out of respect but it is still up for discussion.
