Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is looking to capitalise on its incredible biodiversity and unique local cultures by expanding tourism offerings focused on its natural wonders and community-based experiences.

Speaking at a media conference after officiating the Sabah Matta Fair 2024 (pictured) here Saturday, State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew unveiled plans to develop new tourism packages highlighting Sabah's rich flora, fauna and local communities.

"Sabah is truly one of the most naturally blessed places on Earth," Liew said.

"We want to provide opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in our lush rainforests, catch glimpses of iconic wildlife like elephants and orangutans and learn about the vibrant traditions of our diverse local populations."
