
Kota Kinabalu: Women representing various Gabungan Rakyat Sabah component parties, Star, PBS, PGRS and SAPP met recently to discuss key issues concerning women’s contributions and foster collaboration among women to enhance the socio-economic landscape of Sabah.
Datin Mary Yong, the GRS Women leader for Tanjung Aru stressed the significant contributions of women to the state’s development.

She said the motto emphasised the essential role women play as the backbone of the state, advocating for collective progress and improvement together with their peers.

“It is time to look for better opportunity, better future for Sabah especially for women to work in helping the State to progress further,” she said.
Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});GRS Women Secretary for Tanjung Aru, Joeana John said the meeting was also to formulate the working committee for Tanjung Aru, where the appointment of seven PDMs (Polling District Centre) were appointed to oversee different areas, namely Pulau Gaya, North Sembulan, South Sembulan, East Tanjung Aru, West Tanjung Aru, Airport area and Kampung Tanjung Aru Baru respectively.
“Each appointed PDM chief will be responsible for forming a committee to recruit 25 members for voter engagement and management in their respective districts,” said Joeana.

The meeting was also to get acquainted with several women leaders from Women’s wings at higher level. Among those who were present were Sabah Women GRS secretary, Salmah Sait, Working Committee chief (SUK) Fariza Jimy among others.
There are more than 22,000 voters in N22 Tanjung Aru.
Mary who is also the chairwoman for the PDK Tanjung Aru centre welcomed a group from Selangor and celebrated Chinese New Year by distributing Mandarin oranges and red packets.
Visitors gained insights on how their counterparts operated in caring for the children with disabilities.
Valentina Sho, the supervisor of PDK Tanjung Aru, said the centre had developed successful practices and systems that had proven effective in enhancing the quality of care for the children.
“The practices positioned the centre as a reference point for other centres looking to improve their own programmes,” she said.
