Kota Kinabalu: Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Phoong Jin Zhe is delighted to welcome the promising news of increased trade and investment ties between Malaysia and Japan.

"As Malaysia’s trade with Japan continues to grow, we are particularly excited about the significant investments in the semiconductor and renewable energy sectors directed towards Sabah," said Phoong in a statement.

The recent announcement by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, highlighting the potential for RM40 to RM50 billion in renewable energy investments over the next decade, underscores the strategic importance of Sabah and Sarawak in this initiative.

"Sabah, being the nearest region to Japan, is poised to play a pivotal role in this transformative journey towards sustainable energy solutions," Phoong stated.
