Sabah women urged to lead economy

Sabah Women Inspiration Association chairwoman Datuk Redonah Bahanda has urged more women in Sabah to embrace entrepreneurship and play a key role in strengthening the local economy.

She said this while officiating a Buy Malaysian Products campaign programme on Saturday attended by nearly 500 participants, including women entrepreneurs, youth, and professionals.

Redonah said Sabah women are increasingly active in business, from small home-based ventures to social media-driven enterprises that create jobs and expand local brands.

“Women are now frontliners in business and economic development,” she said.

She also called on the public to support local products, saying it benefits small entrepreneurs, single mothers, and the wider economy.

She added that such programmes help expand markets and empower women through skills, confidence, and opportunity.
