Kota Kinabalu: Emmy Mangun, a 53-year-old Murut woman from Tenom and a gifted singer and composer, will proudly represent Malaysia at the World Cheongsam Queen International 2025 competition in Taiwan this Oct 15–16.
She will compete for the Mrs. Borneo title and is the sole representative from Sabah, carrying both Borneo and Malaysia onto the international stage.
Emmy is officially managed by Kimi Tomas, Borneo Director under the Legend Universal Beauty Pageant team, led by International Director Maggie Leong.
The prestigious event will feature over 40 contestants from across Asia, including participants from the Philippines, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and more.
Contestants will showcase the elegance of the cheongsam, sponsored by renowned Taiwanese designers, while also presenting their unique cultural heritage to a global audience.
According to Kimi, the modern “Mrs.” category in pageantry has evolved into a meaningful platform that celebrates mothers and elite women as visionaries, community leaders, and role models for the younger generation.
“We believe Emmy will shine with grace, talent, and dedication, bringing pride to Sabah and Malaysia on the international stage. May this be her year of triumph,” said Kimi.
Emmy’s participation also reflects Legend Universal’s commitment to international collaboration and the empowerment of women. It underscores Borneo’s rich cultural identity and gives women a global platform to share their stories and strengths.
Kimi also shared that Team Borneo will depart for Taiwan on October 11 and are currently in the final stages of preparation.
Special appreciation goes to Datuk Joanna Kitingan, Chairperson of the KDCA Women’s Council, for her support as a council member and representative of Sabah Borneo.
Gratitude is also extended to Kimi Tomas, National Director, and the Legend Universal Beauty Pageant, led by Maggie Leong, for making this international opportunity possible.
