Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Football Association (Safa) president Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has given his support for the districts’ football associations to have their own football fields.
He said this after holding talks with Safa officials at his residence on Wednesday.
Those present were Safa assistant secretary general Azman Mastar, executive secretary David Wisom, Safa technical director Omar Maya Amat, Safa local competition committee deputy chairman Lokman Sunggim, administrative officer Malim Surat and local competition committee member Johari Datuk Aklee.
According to him, having their own pitch in their respective districts will help them to be more independent and avoid the need to spend extra money on rents in order to carry out their programmes and activities.
“If they can have their own field, it can definitely reduce their cost from renting as well as generate extra income in view of the demand for football matches today,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Works added that he is planning to help the affiliates to get suitable sites that can be used as football fields.
“This has always been in Safa’s central committee plans, hopefully it can be realised soon with the cooperation from all parties concerned.”
