Safe to visit KL, says Anwar

KUALA Lumpur is still a safe place to visit, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today, adding that tourists should not fear the recent sinkhole tragedy at Jalan Masjid India. 

“No, no. For now, there is no such thing,” he told reporters in Penang when asked if tourists had expressed worry about visiting the country’s capital following recent appearances of sinkholes. 

Anwar added that technical studies were being done following the sinkhole incident. He said there was no problem when he passed by the area. 

“Just that the areas which needed to be strengthened, we will do so immediately. 

“The Kuala Lumpur City Hall and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa are carefully monitoring the situation daily,” he said, New Straits Times reported. 

Today marks the eighth day of the continuing search and rescue mission to find the Indian national who fell into a sinkhole in Jalan Masjid India on August 23. – August 30, 2024.
