Kota Kinabalu: The safety of field crew members is always the top priority whenever they are deployed, said Sabah Electricity workers’ unions following the tragic incident in Keningau where a technical staff member, Masedeh Rosmin, was swept away by strong currents while on duty.
“We extend our condolences to the family. His sacrifice in carrying out his duties despite harsh weather conditions deserves recognition,” said KJJ (Electricity Engineers Union) President Christina Chin.
KPP President Asle Abdulli urged the public to appreciate the sacrifices made by technical staff in ensuring stable electricity supply for the people.
“Often, during supply disruptions, many express dissatisfaction over delays in restoration. But what they do not realise is that our technical teams face unpredictable dangers on the ground,” he said.
Masedeh, in his 30s, was swept away while crossing a small bridge over Sungai Nuntunan, Apin-Apin, on Tuesday night in a Sabah Electricity four-wheel drive.
Masedeh and two colleagues were in Kg Nuntunan inspecting power lines when the tragedy occurred. Both of his teammates were rescued. Sabah Electricity described the loss as a “great sacrifice by a staff member in carrying out his duty for the safety and well-being of society.”
