SEMPORNA: A man escaped unhurt after his Proton Saga plunges into the sea near Dataran Lepa, here, Wednesday night.
It was learnt that in the 10.30pm incident, the man accidentally stepped on the gas pedal, causing him to panic and lost control of his car before plunging into the waters.
Semporna Sea Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Noor Jali Maslah said a distress call was received at 10.57pm.
A team of firefighter rushed to the scene and the driver was found to be safe. The team later called off the operation after ensuring no other dangers at the scene.
