PUTRAJAYA — Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has rejected allegations that the Home Ministry granted citizenship to large numbers of foreign nationals and that 1.2 million Chinese nationals remained in Malaysia.
He said the claims had been repeatedly debunked, but certain parties continued circulating old videos, posters and narratives on the issue.
“I have repeatedly rejected these claims and have provided explanations backed by facts and official data,” he said in a social media post on August 19.
Saifuddin said the same allegations had already been addressed through official statements and previous media reports containing supporting facts and data.
He warned that continued circulation of the claims could have wider consequences beyond damaging the reputation of individuals and government institutions.
“The dissemination of such defamatory claims not only tarnishes the reputation of individuals and institutions, but more worryingly, can undermine public confidence in state institutions, stir racial hatred, disrupt public order and threaten national security,” he said.
Saifuddin called on all parties to stop spreading the allegations and avoid using sensitive issues for political purposes or to gain attention on social media.
He also urged members of the public to verify information through official sources before sharing it online.
“I also call on the public to check the accuracy of information with official sources before accepting or sharing it. Use social media responsibly. Facts are facts, and data is data. Do not let false claims override the truth,” he said.
