Kota Kinabalu: The March 2023 salaries of some 600 Shinsung E&G construction workers amounting to RM3.8 million at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) site have been paid in full.
Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe said all dues were paid in time for Aidilfitri by 6pm on Monday.
“According to the Sabah Labour Department’s interim investigation report, it was informed that only March salary arrears were involved instead of four months as rumoured on social media,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
He said he would be closely following the latest developments pertaining to the case despite currently being on an official visit to China.
“I am happy to receive a report from SK Nexils (main contractor) that the issue has been resolved properly. I would like to thank them for their cooperation. Hopefully all those affected will welcome the coming Hari Raya with joy,” he added.
