KOTA KINABALU: A 30-year-old salesman was jailed five years and fined RM1,000 for using two counterfeit RM100 notes at a petrol station.

Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal convicted Jeremy Vun after finding the case proven beyond reasonable doubt.

The court also ordered him to pay RM500 compensation to the petrol station owner.

The offence occurred at a Shell station in Jalan Tuaran on April 15, 2024, and falls under Section 489B of the Penal Code, which carries up to 20 years’ jail and a fine.
