Salon owner 'Yuyu', husband and family members charged with trafficking 20kg of meth pills

A BEAUTY salon and eatery owner known as 'Yuyu', her husband, and three other family members were charged in the Magistrates' Court here on Thursday with trafficking over 20 kilograms of methamphetamine — commonly known as ‘pil kuda’ — in three separate locations around Kampung Banggol Chicha on 27 June.

No pleas were recorded from any of the five accused, as the charges fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The accused are Mohd Faizal Ismail, 35; his wife Nur Ayu Fatihah Zaudi, 34, who owns the salon and eatery; Mohamad Farid Ismail, 33; Mohd Khairu Azani Mohd Lawi, 39; and Mohamad Asmawi Janudin, 25.

It was revealed in court that Mohd Faizal is the elder brother of Mohamad Farid and both men are uncles to Mohamad Asmawi.

According to the first charge, Mohd Faizal allegedly trafficked 115 grams of methamphetamine from a Perodua Axia vehicle parked near a three-way junction at Jalan Gajah Mati, Kampung Banggol Chicha, at approximately 11.15am on 27 June.

For the second charge, both Mohd Faizal and Nur Ayu Fatihah are accused of jointly trafficking 112 grams of methamphetamine at a house in the same village around 11.30am that day.

Under the third and most serious charge, all five individuals are jointly accused of trafficking 19,866 grams of methamphetamine at a cattle pen behind a house in Kampung Banggol Chicha at about 4.30pm on the same day.

All charges were framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and are punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries a mandatory death sentence or life imprisonment with whipping of not less than 15 strokes if the death penalty is not imposed.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Syazalia Che Suhaimi led the prosecution. Mohd Faizal and Nur Ayu Fatihah were represented by counsel Mohd Norazihan Adnan, while the remaining three accused were unrepresented. - July 10, 2025
