
- Sam Neill's ex-partner, Laura Tingle, revealed the actor had been "pretty sick" for two weeks before his "sudden and unexpected" death.
- Tingle explained on the radio show Sydney Mornings that while Neill was cancer-free at the time of his death, his previous battle with “various forms of cancer” had "taken a toll" on his body and left his immune system “pretty compromised”.
- Meanwhile, actor Rima Te Wiata, a co-star, told the New Zealand Herald that the actor caught pneumonia.
- Neill was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer in 2022 but had achieved remission after undergoing treatment.
- The 78-year-old actor, known for films such as Jurassic Park and The Piano, will appear posthumously in two films, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort, both expected in 2027.
