Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero admits turning down Nottingham Forest in January.
Samp are on track to being relegated in Serie A this season.
But Audero says of Forest's attempt: "I thought every effort was needed to get out of this situation.
"I had an offer, but I had to return the trust I received here, it was not right to leave like that."
Audero rejected an offer from Forest worth over 800,000-a-year to stick with Samp.
