Not to be outdone by its homeland rival, Samsung announced plans to expand its Micro RGB television lineup in 2026, introducing new models in 55-, 65-, 75-, 85-, 100- and 115-inch sizes. The expanded range builds on the Micro RGB technology first introduced with the 115-inch model in August this year, and with the addition of smaller sizes, expect lower costs and wider adoption for this newfangled display technology. These models will be presented on CES 2026 this upcoming January 6-9.

Samsung’s new Micro RGB models use sub-100μm (that’s sub-0.1mm) red, green and blue LEDs that emit light independently, just like how OLEDs work; this means the colored backlighting can work in tandem with the pixel layer (likely IPS-based given its ubiquity in color-focused displays) to further boost color volume. It should be made clear that this is not a self-emissive display though, given that this works on the same principle as existing Mini-LED panels, which uses multiple zones of white backlighting to achieve brightness and color boost.

For software-level processing, Samsung has its Micro RGB AI Engine Pro which applies frame-by-frame analysis to manage color reproduction and dynamic range, though only specific models will get this chip (same applies to 4K AI Upscaling Pro, AI Motion Enhancer Pro, and Micro RGB HDR Pro features). While LG got Intertek to verify its full BT.2020 color coverage, Samsung has a certification of its own courtesy of VDE, which verified full coverage of the said gamut thanks to “enhanced RGB color dimming precision”.

New panel tech aside, Samsung says select models of the new TV lineup will feature “proprietary” glare reduction technology, and here’s the exact certification found on the already-launched 115-inch model, which should at least trickle down to the higher-end parts of the lineup. Audio-wise, the lineup will support Dolby Atmos, Adaptive Sound Pro which tunes audio based on room conditions and content type, along with Q-Symphony support for supported Samsung soundbars. All 2026 Samsung televisions will also support Eclipsa Audio, a spatial audio system designed to deliver 3D sound output.

As for the (obligatory) AI stuff, Samsung says the 2026 models will introduce an updated “Vision AI Companion” platform that integrates large language model for its Bixby voice assistant, supporting conversational search, content discovery, along with access to AI features such as Live Translate, Generative Wallpaper, and AI chatbot Perplexity. Cut the buzzwords through for a second here – the TVs will run on Samsung’s in-house Tizen OS, as usual.
