Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag3, its latest Bluetooth tracker for keeping tabs on your keys, bags, luggage and personal items
Compared to the previous SmartTag2 which was launched 3 years ago, the new tracker is smaller and lighter, while offering a longer finding range and faster location updates through Samsung’s Galaxy Find Network.
Perhaps the major updates is that the SmartTag3 now supports core finding and sharing features on iPhones as well.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 is smaller and lighter

The Galaxy SmartTag3 gets a redesigned rounded form which similar to Apple’s AirTags. Measuring 31mm x 31mm, the new version is approximately 35% smaller by volume compared to its predecessor. It is also lighter at 9.15g, even compared to the 2nd generation AirTag.
The new SmartTag 3 comes in black and white, and features an aluminium-decorated button. To attach the SmartTag 3 to your personal devices, Samsung is also offering optional accessories including a Silicone Case with a keyring and a Loop Case.

Despite its smaller size, battery life has been increased to up to 550 days under standard usage. Turning on Power Saving Mode extends battery life further to up to 790 days. As a comparison, the previous version is rated with up to 500 days of battery life with standard usage and it can go up to 700 days in Power Saving mode.
Like its predecessor, the Galaxy SmartTag3 retains an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and it is powered by a CR2032 coin battery.
Compass View can now work from up to 60 metres away

One of the biggest upgrades is its expanded Compass View finding range that’s claims to be 3x further than its predecessor.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 supports Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding, which provides distance and directional guidance from up to 60 metres away under line-of-sight conditions. Once you get closer to the tracker, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) is then used for more precise directional finding on supported Galaxy smartphones.

However, there’s a catch as Bluetooth Channel Sounding is currently supported only on selected Samsung devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26+. Samsung says more devices may be supported in the future.
Compass View itself requires a compatible Galaxy device running Android 12 or later with UWB or Bluetooth Channel Sounding support.
To track items that are further away, the tracker relies on the Galaxy Find Network which taps on more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide.
Galaxy SmartTag3 now works with iPhones, but with limitations

For the first time in the Galaxy SmartTag lineup, Samsung is adding cross-platform support for both Galaxy and iOS devices.
Through SmartThings Find, supported users can check and share a tag’s location and use Search Nearby. This means, for example, you could lend tagged luggage to an iPhone user and allow them to check its location from their own device.
However, iPhone users won’t get the full experience as some features would be limited. Features such as Compass View, Ring Phone and Left Behind Alert are currently not supported on iOS.
SmartTag3 can alert you when an item leaves a designated area

Samsung has also added new proactive tracking features on the SmartTag 3 to remind you if you’ve left your item in public spaces.
Place Notification which is currently offered as a trial, lets you define an area and receive an alert when the tagged item moves into or out of it. For example, you can get notifications when a “tagged” pet leaves your garden or when a bicycle is moved from its usual parking location.
There is also Location History, which allows you to see where the SmartTag3 has been for up to seven days, as well as Movement Detection Alert, which can notify you when movement is detected while the tracker is disconnected from your device.

These features depend on nearby participating Galaxy devices and network conditions, so alerts and location updates depends on the number of supported Galaxy devices in the area.
The SmartTag 3 still offers NFC-powered Lost Mode which allows someone to tap on it with their NFC-enabled phone to view your contact information.
The integrated button can also be configured to trigger selected SmartThings routines for compatible connected devices, while Galaxy users can enable Left Behind Alert to be notified when their phone loses connection with a tagged item.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 pricing and availability

Samsung’s new SmartTag3 will make its debut in South Korea on 7 October 2026, followed by the US, before expanding to additional markets in 2027.
There’s still no pricing and availability details for the Malaysian market.
