MANILA, Philippines — San Beda College Alabang suspended in-person classes on Wednesday and shifted to online modality following a report of a "unverified safety concern" reported to the school late Tuesday evening.
In a statement, school rector Fr. Gerardo Maria de Villa said that its physical campus would be temporarily closed to students, while on-campus activities involving student presence would be suspended for the day.
Classes will continue online according to the regular schedules and established learning platforms, de Villa added.
"This is a precautionary measure as the school completes necessary safety protocols in coordination with the appropriate authorities," de Villa said.
He urged everyone to stay calm, follow the official advisory, and rely only on information through official channels.
The suspension comes after schools are strengthening security measures following school violence in Tacloban and Zamboanga the past few months.
