SANDAKAN: Public transport operators in Bandar Letat will operate at the Sandakan Sentral Bus Terminal (TBSS), starting June 5.

Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong said the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) has asked the operators to move as soon as possible as the old terminal in Bandar Letat will be closed on June 4 (Sunday).

He said the move would certainly be welcome as the people have been waiting for years for the TBSS to be opened.

He hoped the authorities will carry out some maintenance and repair work on the TBSS as it has not been used for many years.

According to Chong, the old station does not have a roof but the TBSS can protect bus operators, employees, customers and traders from hot weather and rain.

“The TBSS is not only conducive for domestic transport but also allows people to get on and off buses in a more comfortable manner because there is a special waiting area provided.

“Nonetheless, all the vacant shop lots inside the TBSS need to be opened so that the terminal and shops to drive Sandakan's economic development.”
