SANDAKAN: Some 426 fishing boat operators here have reported a dwindling catch as they drastically reduce their fishing trips due to irregularities in the distribution of subsidised.

Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong (pic), who expressed concern over the issue, has brought the matter to the attention of the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) and the Regional Fishermen’s Association (PNK) to ensure no leaks or irregularities in the distribution of the subsidised diesel.

Urging LKIM to resolve the issue, he said the Government had allocated 2.8 million litres of subsidised diesel monthly to fishermen in the district.
