
SANDAKAN: District police solved the murder case of a 58-year-old woman within 24 hours after her body was found with head injuries at a squatter area at 5.30pm on Sunday.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the suspect, a 31-year-old local, was arrested in Mile 2 on Monday evening.
“His arrest followed a public tip-off and intelligence gathered by the Sandakan IPD and D9 Criminal Investigation Branch.
“The suspect is now in custody to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty, if convicted,” he said, Tuesday.
“With the suspect’s arrest, police believe the case has been solved,” he said.
