SANDAKAN: There is a need for 5,000 People’s Housing Project (PPR) homes to accommodate victims of disasters including fires.

Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib said this was revealed to him in a briefing given by the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS).

“Adding more PPRs would also be an effort to cover the squatter problem and allow residents to live in the PPR at an affordable rate,” he said when visiting the Kg Cederamata fire victims at the Taman Batu Sapi PPR Hall temporary shelter, here, Saturday. There were more than 400 victims placed in the shelter.
