SANDAKAN: A 22-year-old man who jumped into the sea in an attempt to save his cousin and her children at the Sandakan seafront was found dead on Sunday night.

His body was discovered at 10.03pm, shortly after the remains of the young boy were also recovered from the area.

The deceased was found along the shoreline not far from the incident site and was handed over to police for further action.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation entered its third day on Tuesday as efforts continued to locate a missing six-year-old girl.

Rescuers from the fire department and other agencies are combing a four-kilometre radius from where the child was last seen.
