SANDAKAN: Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong said residents in Sandakan continue to face difficulties purchasing essential items such as regular chicken eggs, subsidised cooking oil and local rice.

He said consumer complaints reveal limited supply of basic necessities which are often priced higher than usual.

AdvertisementMany consumers have reported needing to visit multiple supermarkets — sometimes more than five — just to secure these items.

Adding to their frustration, grocery stores and supermarkets have begun limiting purchases per customer.
