SANDAKAN: Sandakan will soon have a modern and structured solid waste disposal facility once the Labuk Solid Waste Disposal Site project is completed by 16 August 2027.

The RM25.91 million project, funded under a RM30 million allocation from the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT), is expected to serve around 500,000 residents, addressing long-standing waste management issues in the district.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said Sandakan currently has no official disposal site, and this project will be a catalyst for a more sustainable and efficient waste management system.
