Appearing on British Vogue recently, fashion model Gigi Hadid was seen wearing a Tom Ford shirt in ice blue with tailored boot cuts and Jimmy Choo pumps. The picture was taken on the set of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she was invited to promote her own label, Guest in Residence.
Daniel Rodgers who wrote for the celebrity style column featuring Hadid, says ‘The sandwich method (a term coined by British influencer and stylist Lydia Tomlinson in 2022) refers to the pairing of two colour-coordinated items with a contrasting layer in the middle' — an easy styling tip that became the go-to buzz on social media feeds.
Sandwich dressing is quite convenient to figure out, if you have the knack to fix one and make a clever spread all at once. There are three definite layers to this technique and it really is a no-brainer. The top and bottom layers is known as the ‘bread’ while the ‘filling’ falls in the mid-section, just the way Hadid did it. Using a tailored boot cut as the filling, her Tom Ford shirt and Jimmy Choo pumps does the trick!

While you can just fix a simple sandwich that is hassle-free, there's also the option of garnishing your filling with a few basic ideas. For instance, if you want to wear loose fitting clothes then just add in a white top and leave your shirt open so that you can rock it with a pair of trainers. It is also important to be aware of colour co-ordination, the way you would want to bite into a healthy yet yummy sandwich.
Perhaps, once you keep repeating the technique and then, voila – you might just get a hang of it and going out will instantly feel a lot more like a breeze than the regular manic wardrobe brain freeze. It is also really fun, to see if your friends notice your dressing sense. They might want to know what's been on your menu of late.
