According to Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Sanusi, popularly known as SanuC in rural Kedah, the 'green wave' is gaining momentum and has the potential to bring about a change in the government of six states that will hold elections in the coming months.

Sanusi suggests that the Green Wave, which initially started with the 15th General Election (GE15), is now growing even more vital as people are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the current government's performance. This dissatisfaction indicates that they are seeking alternatives. The present administration is often referred to as a "unity" government, although it is essential to note that a significant number of Members of Parliament belong to the opposition bench. Ideally, a unity government should not have any opposition at all.

Nonetheless, Sanusi, currently serving as the Kedah Menteri Besar, believes that conditions are favourable for PN, and he predicts that they are well-prepared to secure victories in the forthcoming state elections across six states.

"The GE15 wave still supports PN. In fact, I am confident that it is growing even stronger because, previously, people were unable to assess the performance of the unity government. Now, they perceive the federal government's performance as highly disappointing. As a result, the people will continue to support the existing wave."

If Sanusi's predictions are correct, the state governments in these six states will likely have a stronger representation from the Green Party. However, our intuition tells us that not all six states will experience this shift. Nevertheless, disappointment with the current government is becoming increasingly widespread, even reaching the most remote villages in Kedah.

For the average person, like many followers of SanuC in Kolanerang, the promises made by the current government have not materialized on the ground.

Even the uncles who earn their living by selling durians on the outskirts of Kolanerang are not just disappointed with our "Big Brother in KayL" but rather furious about unfulfilled promises. One individual we spoke to on Jalan Dusun Indah, named PakSarip, expressed his discontent, saying, "The price of petrol hasn't decreased, and even if it does, the Prime Minister hasn't visited us here! Only SanuC shows up."

It is evident that he is referring to the unfulfilled promise of lowering petrol prices that the Prime Minister made upon assuming power. Furthermore, PakSarip expressed his disappointment that the Prime Minister failed to visit the underprivileged individuals he pledged to help alleviate from poverty. On the other hand, their Menteri Besar is always present.

PakSarip then voiced his support for "our" Menteri Besar, whom he learned had recently presented keys and land titles for 12 houses built by the state of Kedah (not federal!) for victims of last year's floods in Kampung Iboi.

One could argue that a single case like PakSarip's is insufficient to prove the imminent arrival of the green wave.

However, if you follow SanuC on TikTok in Tanjung Karang and Shahidan Kassim campaigning in Semenyih, you would be inclined to believe these PN representatives, that the green wave is indeed real.

People on the streets, including individuals like PakSarip, are already shifting their loyalties.

It appears that the Prime Minister is losing his influence, and the Green Wave is poised to impact the six states.

It is highly likely that at least three states (Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu) will become green with two others turning brown while Penang will be shining less brightly in red PH colours, than previously.
