Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) has doubled down on its vision for a Sabah government composed entirely of local parties, following its departure from the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
Citing Sarawak’s success as a model, SAPP insists that all 73 state seats should be contested exclusively by Sabah-based parties.
Information Chief Chin Vui Kai emphasized that this strategy would reinforce local autonomy and ensure governance remains within Sabah’s control.
SAPP, along with Star Sabah, left GRS due to disagreements over the coalition’s alliance with Pakatan Harapan.
Chin stressed that despite differing strategies, local parties share the common objective of preventing undue external influence in Sabah’s governance, advocating for self-determination in accordance with the wishes of Sabah voters.
