Rescuers found the body of a seven-year-old Indonesian boy about three kilometres from where he fell into a river at Persiaran Subang Indah, Subang Jaya.
KUALA LUMPUR: A seven-year-old Indonesian boy who fell into a river at Persiaran Subang Indah, Subang Jaya, yesterday was found drowned today.
The boy’s body was found by rescuers at 10.59 am, about three kilometres from where he was reported to have fallen.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (Operations) Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the victim was identified by his parents at noon before the body was handed over to police for further action.
“The body was taken to Serdang Hospital, while the search and rescue (SAR) operation, which was activated last night, was called off at 12.20 pm,” he said in a statement today.
Today’s SAR operation was extended for more than eight kilometres towards Sri Muda and Sungai Kandis, involving three JBPM boats and nine personnel, as well as a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
JBPM received an emergency call about the incident at 8.06 pm yesterday and activated the SAR operation to search the area.
The boy was believed to have fallen into the river at about 6.30 pm while playing with his friends.
