THE arrest warrant issued against Vice President Sara Duterte will not affect the separate impeachment proceedings against her, House prosecution member Terry Ridon said on Friday.
“The impeachment proceedings are a separate constitutional accountability process,” The Manila Times quoted Ridon saying.
He said the Senate Impeachment Court would independently determine the matters properly before it, while Duterte would have the opportunity to present her defences before the proper court.
“No one should prejudge either proceeding,” Ridon said.
The Quezon City Regional Trial Court issued the arrest warrant against Duterte in connection with grave threats cases filed against her. - September 5, 2026
