VICE President Sara Duterte on Friday said she was awaiting the proper document before appearing as a witness for the prosecution at her impeachment trial.
“I cannot answer that yet because there is still no paper or document saying that I need to appear as a witness for the prosecution,” Duterte said.
“Since 2023, I feel threatened. I feel harassed. I do not feel safe. But I have a job that I need to do, and I have an obligation toward the people that I need to act on,” Duterte added when asked about her well-being.
She also questioned the renewed discussion on the voting threshold for her impeachment, saying the standard had been settled and should follow the Constitution.
“The threshold has already been decided. First and foremost, [they said] the Constitution will be followed. Now that the discussion has changed, it means they will change it (the Constitution). Why discuss it if it will not be changed?” she said.
Her remarks came as the Senate impeachment court prepares to hear the views of legal experts, amici curiae, or friends of the court, on whether 16 votes are enough to convict Duterte.
