Sarawak civil servants set for two-month bonus as Premier signals strong revenue growth

PUBLIC sector workers in Sarawak have been given a strong indication that they may receive a two-month salary bonus following robust state revenue performance over the first six months of the year.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg hinted at the payout following a encouraging progress report on the state's financial standing, though official details remain under wraps until the presentation of the upcoming Sarawak Budget.

Speaking to reporters after officiating the Sarikei Division Sarawakku Sayang 2026 programme on Saturday, the Premier commended the tireless work of civil servants across the region and expressed confidence in rewarding their efforts.

“According to the report I received for the six-month period, it is 'quite convincing', but I cannot disclose it until budget time. However, seeing the civil servants and other parties working hard today, I dare to say two months,” he said.

The Premier explained that the potential bonus reflects both the healthy trajectory of the state's revenue streams and the unwavering commitment shown by government employees in executing development projects and delivering public services effectively.

He further revealed that the Sarawak Government plans to roll out additional incentives for officers in recognition of their dedication to public duty across all administration levels. - August 8, 2026
