Sarawak cops launch manhunt for men seen with swords

SARAWAK police have launched a manhunt for a group of men seen brandishing long swords and sharp weapons during an argument in a public car park in a commercial centre near Kuching.

Padawan District police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police have formed a special task force to track down these men.

"We have detected a video that went viral on social media yesterday around 6 pm.

"The video showed the group of men arguing in a car park believed to be in the Batu Kawah commercial centre.

"They were seen brandishing sharp weapons. We take this very seriously and will not tolerate such violent and dangerous behaviour," he said in a press statement.

Zainal said the offence is being probed under Section 6(1) of the Penal Code for dangerous public behaviour and possession of dangerous weapons.

Several individuals suspected to be among those in the video have already been identified, he said.

The process to locate and arrest them is underway, he added. - The Vibes, February 22, 2024
