Sarawak emerges as top investment destination, a model for other Malaysian states – Fadillah

SARAWAK’S remarkable unity across diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious communities has become the bedrock of its development, attracting significant foreign investment and positioning the state as a model for others across Malaysia, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Speaking at the Petra Jaya Parliamentary Arts and Culture Event 2025 in Kuching, Fadillah credited Sarawak’s inclusive and progressive development policies and strong, forward-looking leadership as key factors driving the state’s economic growth.

“We have visionary leadership, leadership that looks ahead and is capable of planning and managing the new economy,” he said.

“Leadership that understands how to shape our future through emerging technologies. Mention hydrogen, we are ahead; ammonia, we are ahead; renewable energy, we are ahead; digital, we are ahead,” he added.

Fadillah also emphasised that political stability, investor-friendly policies and a high-quality talent pool have played a major role in drawing international investors to the state. Countries such as Japan, China, France and Norway are among those with a growing interest in investing in Sarawak.

He further stated that Sarawak’s enduring spirit of tolerance and unity among its people has been a driving force behind the state’s sustained progress.

Expressing optimism for the future, Fadillah said, “I am confident that Sarawak will achieve developed and prosperous state status by 2030, provided that stability and unity continue to be upheld together.” - July 13, 2025
