SIBU: Sarawak which is rich in cultural heritage and rapidly growing in the technological scene has great potential in the global gaming industry and become a world hub for game development innovation, said Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong.

He said Sarawak has the chance to mix traditional wisdom with modern innovation in creating games that are appealing to the world while staying true to the Sarawak roots.

“This vision is all about changing the game development scene by sharing knowledge and using the latest technology. Our mission is just as ambitious.

“We aim to boost the gaming industry by encouraging the exchange of ideas, showcasing new technologies, and celebrating gaming culture through educational sessions. This is not just a goal - it is a promise to take the gaming industry to new heights,” he said.

According to him, in line with this, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), a lead agency under the purview of the Ministry of Digital will support the gaming industry by providing various programmes and grants designed to nurture talent, promote local game developers and attract international gaming companies to Malaysia.
