KUCHING, Aug 9 — Miri and Sarikei recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 1pm today.

According to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), eight districts are now recording unhealthy API levels, including Miri (118) and Sarikei (147).

Serian remains the highest at 170, followed by Samarahan (156). Kuching and Bintulu recorded 155 each, while Sri Aman and Samalaju registered 153 each.

Other monitoring stations across the state recorded moderate API readings, ranging from 74 to 92.

An API reading between 101 and 200 is categorised as unhealthy and may pose health risks to sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions. — The Borneo Post
