AIR Borneo, rebranded from MasWings as the airline was acquired by the state government, should give first priority to local Sarawak natives for newly created jobs, Sarawak Pakatan Harapan information chief Senator Abun Sui Anyit said today.
He added the takeover of the airline should see many new jobs created.
"The technical staff, ground staff and crew to be recruited should compromise of more Sarawakian natives,” he said, adding, there are qualified and capable Sarawakians who will be eager to take up these jobs.
"Since it will be a Sarawak airline, first priority for vacancies must be reserved for local Sarawakians, especially the natives," he told reporters in Miri today.
Abun, who is form the Sarawak branch of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, said the airline should set lower fares for all domestic routes within Sarawak.
“The airlines must also offer cheaper fares for routes to other states in the country,” he added.
