KUCHING, Sept 16 — A 32-year-old man is feared to be the latest victim of a crocodile attack at Kampung Lubok Punggor in Simunjan yesterday evening.

The victim, identified as Ahmad Alzadkhri Sudin, was reportedly netting shrimps with his family along the Lubok Punggor riverbank when the reptile struck around 4pm.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said search teams from Simunjan and Kota Samarahan fire stations were deployed to the scene.

“The search radius covered about 200 metres from the scene to the village. Villagers had earlier attempted to locate the victim but without success. Our teams then gathered information from witnesses before beginning operations,” Bomba said in a statement.

The search operation was later called off and will resume today. — The Borneo Post
