The iconic “Serpent Head” sea stack at Bako National Park, a landmark known for its distinct shape, reportedly collapsed overnight.

The disappearance of this geological feature has drawn attention and speculation that recent strong winds and waves may have contributed to its sudden collapse.

The news was first shared by Borneo Adventure, a local travel agency, on their Facebook page.

Their guide, Paul, discovered the collapse yesterday when he arrived at the location.

The “Serpent Head” sea stack has been a prominent feature in the park, serving as a popular subject for tourism posters in Kuching.

The Sarawak Tourism Board expressed their regret over the loss in a post made in the evening, acknowledging the sea stack’s years of significance to the region’s tourism.

Tuan Abang Arabi bin Abg Aimran, CEO of Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), expressed his sorrow over the loss, highlighting the sea stack’s value to both the natural world and the local tourism sector, especially boat operators at the park.
