SARAWAK is seeking expertise from Norway to develop a wide range of infrastructure projects in the state.
The state is also seeking to adopt the method used by Norway to develop rural Sarawak which is full of mountainous terrains just like the Norway landscape.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg has arrived in Oslo for an official visit organised by the Sarawak Regional Development Authority (Recoda).
In the delegation are Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Recoda top officials as well as representatives from the Sarawak Planning Unit, Sarawak Transport Ministry and others, said Recoda in a statement.
"Norway has world renowned expertise in developing infrastructure, transportation and planning and management of housing and public amenities towns and cities, especially those located in their hilly terrains.
"Their urban planning and road systems as well as usage of green technology in transportation are of the highest standard.
"Norway is also very advanced in carbon capture projects. Sarawak has a lot to learn from Norway.
"Sarawak can adopt the technology from Norway to be suited to the local scene in Sarawak as we share similar logistics and geographical features," Recoda said in a press statement.
Abang Johari and delegation will be meeting many key government officials in Oslo.
They will also discuss potential economic cooperations and business potentials for mutual benefits, said Recoda.
Norway is one of the world's top countries renowned for environmental preservation and green technology. – February 21, 2025
