SOOK: Saripin FC emerged champions of the Kampung Pinipi Lanas Open Nine-a-Side Football Tournament after defeating Batu Lunguyan JR FC in the final at Padang Kampung Pinipi Lanas TuliD, here, recently.

Seselungon FC finished third while Mastura FC placed fourth in the tournament.

Officiating at the event, Assistant Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Jordan Jude Ellron, welcomed the participation of teams from other villages and said, “We compete to make friends, not to make enemies.”He also increased the cash prizes offered by the organisers, raising the champion’s prize from RM700 to RM1,000, the runners-up from RM500 to RM700, third place from RM300 to RM500 and fourth place from RM200 to RM400 to encourage participants.

Jordan approved the provision of a grass-cutting machine for youths of Kg Pinipi Lanas to ease field maintenance work and announced that upgrading works for the Kampung Kuit Lanas field will be carried out in April.

Jordan, who is also the Tulid State Assemblyman, congratulated the organisers for successfully staging the tournament and said the efforts were part of his commitment to providing better sports facilities for youths in Tulid under his tagline ‘Tidak Janji Tapi Bukti’. (No promises, only proof)As champions, Saripin FC took home RM1,000, while Batu Lunguyan JR FC received RM700, Seselungon FC RM500 and Mastura FC RM400.

A total of 15 teams took part in the tournament organised by Kelab Bola Sepak PESBA in collaboration with KRT Alab Lanas.
