Johoreans can enjoy water bill rebates and fast 5G internet as Ranhill SAJ and Yes launch a new initiative to support savings and digital connectivity.

PETALING JAYA: Ranhill SAJ and Yes are offering wider internet access and lower water bills for Johoreans through a collaboration that brings together two essential services — clean water and high-speed internet — in a move aimed at advancing Johor’s smart city ambitions.

Under the programme, eligible residents who subscribe to Yes 5G Advanced broadband plans will receive a RM10.50 monthly voucher on their water bills for the first six months.

The initiative is designed to provide immediate financial relief while encouraging greater adoption of digital services among households.

Ranhill SAJ interim Chief Executive Officer Mohd Hedzir Hanafi said the partnership reflects the utility provider’s commitment to improving the well-being of the communities it serves.

“Our role goes beyond delivering safe and reliable water services. We are committed to improving everyday living for the households we serve. Through this collaboration with Yes, we are able to introduce meaningful savings for families while encouraging greater digital engagement through the Ranhill SAJ app. It is another step towards building a more connected and digitally empowered Johor,” he said in a statement.

As Johor’s primary water services provider, Ranhill SAJ supplies treated water to more than 1.8 million households and businesses statewide.

At the same time, reliable internet access has become increasingly vital, supporting education, remote working, communication, and access to digital platforms.

Yes, operated by YTL Communications, is positioning the initiative as part of its push to expand Malaysia’s 5G ecosystem.

The company describes its network as the country’s most advanced 5G platform and the first to introduce 5G Advanced technology, offering faster speeds and improved connectivity for homes.

Through its broadband plans, households can access uncapped 5G data starting from RM68 per month.

Customers will also receive a complimentary premium router and one year of iQIYI access, with a combined value exceeding RM1,300. The plug-and-play home WiFi solution eliminates the need for wired installation, enabling quick and convenient setup.

YTL Communications Chief Executive Officer Wing K. Lee said the partnership highlights how connectivity can complement essential services to better support communities.

“Reliable internet connectivity has become a necessity for households today. Through this collaboration with Ranhill SAJ, we are proud to bring Malaysia’s most advanced 5G network into more Johor homes while helping families enjoy additional savings on their water bills,” he said.

To participate, residents must download the Ranhill SAJ mobile app, sign up for an eligible Yes broadband plan, and submit their SAJ water account number for verification.

Once approved, the monthly water bill rebate will be applied.

Beyond cost savings, the initiative also aims to encourage greater digital engagement, enabling users to manage their water accounts, access billing information, and receive service updates more efficiently.
