Kota Kinabalu: Sawit Kinabalu Farm Product Sdn Bhd (SKFPSB) is venturing into the bird’s nest industry in line with the objectives of the Sabah Maju Jaya concept.

Towards this end, a joint-venture agreement was signed between SKFPSB and East Borneo Bhd (EBB) at Sawit Kinabalu’s corporate office here, Friday.

A joint-venture company has been formed to handle matters relating to the supply, processing and trading of bird’s nest, be it sourced from swiftlet houses or the caves.

“In addition, a factory to process bird’s nest will be set up at the Sabah Agro Industrial Precinct (SAIP) to support the bird’s nest industry and enhance the socio-economy aspect of the industry in the State,” a statement from Sawit Kinabalu said.

Present at the signing ceremony were Sawit Kinabalu group managing director Datuk Bacho Jasnie while EBB was represented by its director, Safuan Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Ghapur.

SKFPSB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sawit Kinabalu involved in the producing and selling of fresh cow meat and cattle farming and it also owns swiftlet houses in Sabah.
